1. When is my refuse/recycling picked up?

The trash service days are Monday / Thursday with recycling on Thursday, Monday / Thursday with recycling on Monday,  or Tuesday / Friday with recycling on Tuesday. Please see service map for delivery areas.

2. How can I opt-in to the recycling program?

If you were one of the original residents who opted out of the recycling program in 2006 and would like to now recycle, please contact Waste Management at (602) 268-2222 and they will assist you with delivering the 35-gallon bin to your residence.

3. How do I acquire a recycling bin?

Once your trash service is established with Waste Management by contacting the Customer Service department at (602)268-2222, they will deliver the 35-gallon recycle bin to all new residents of Litchfield Park.

4. My refuse/recycling was not collected. What can I do?

Service may be provided as early as 6 a.m. If your container was not placed out early enough, please wait until the next scheduled collection day. If your container was out at the proper time but not collected, contact Waste Management at (602)268-2222.

5. What can I put in my recycling bin?

The recycling program accepts newspaper; brown paper bags; cardboard; cereal boxes; milk / juice cartons; magazines; catalogs; phone books; mail; plastic PETE 1 bottles; plastic HDPE 2 bottles & jugs; plastic #s 3,4,5,6,7 generated from inside the house; glass bottles/jars; aluminum; and, steel/tin cans. 6. What items are considered household hazardous waste materials?

A partial list includes aerosols, antifreeze, brake fluid, charcoal lighters, engine degreasers, fluorescent tubes, insecticides, oil filters, paint removers, poisons, propane tanks, smoke detectors, thermostats, transmission fluids, and varnishes. 7. What can I do with household hazardous wastes?

Hazardous wastes may be taken to the Glendale Landfill located at 11480 W. Glendale Avenue; disposal fees are $1.46/100 pounds and additional charges apply for refrigerators, coolers and dehumidifiers. You may also contact PSC Industrial Service at (602)252-1186 or Envirosolve at (602)276-7602 to arrange for collection of items; there is a fee for their services.

8. How do I dispose of motor oil and used car batteries?

Autozone and Checker Auto Parts will accept motor oil and car batteries at no cost.

9. Can rechargeable batteries be recycled?

Yes, the nickel-cadium and lithium rechargeable batteries used in electronic equipment, such as cordless and cell phones, can be recycled. Rechargeable batteries can be taken to any Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack for free disposal.

10. What to I do with my old alkaline batteries?

AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt batteries should be thrown out in your trash receptacle; they should not be placed in a recycling container. Alkaline batteries may be taken to a Batteries and Bulbs retail store for recycling.

11. I've just purchased new tires to place on my vehicle. What do I do with the old tires?

The old tires should be left with the maintenance service installing your new tires. If you have tires that need to be properly disposed, tires without rims and wheels may be disposed of at the Rainbow Valley Transfer Station at 17795 S. Rainbow Valley Rd., (602)-506-4006 or the Southeast Waste Tire Collection Site at 11400 E. Pecos Rd., (480)987-2498.

12. Does the City offer residents the opportunity to recycle live trees during the Christmas season?

Yes, the City designates a recycling drop off location just west of City Hall. Residents are encouraged to drop off their live trees through mid-January. Call 623-935-1066 for additional details.
