The residential inspection checklist for underfloor (water service) includes:
An accessible customer shutoff valve (boxed with lid) within 18 inches and downstream of the water meter.
Proper water service pipe sizing for required flow rate/flow pressure, section P2903.1, and Table P2903.1, I.R.C.
Materials, joints and connections, section P2905, I.R.C.
Trenching, pipe installation and backfill, sections P2905.4.2 and P2604, I.R.C.
Piping support, sections P2907 and P2605.1, I.R.C. ***Please Note: Copper piping may not be laid directly and compacted into the 4-inch-thick (ABC) base course.
If installed in the same trench as the sewer piping, water service piping must be on a solid ledge, at least 12 inches above and to one side of the highest point in the sewer line (City standard).
Water service pipe cross-over, min. 10 foot water service pipe sleeve (min. 5 foot horizontal sleeve length from cross-over centerline of sewer pipe, measured from both sides), section P2905.4.2, I.R.C.
No bends in polyethylene plastic piping are permitted within 10 pipe diameters of any fitting or valves, section P2905.3, I.R.C.
Tested operating water pressure at minimum 40 psi air pressure for minimum 15 minutes, section P2903.3, I.R.C. ***Please note: When the main pressure exceeds 80 psi, an approved pressure-reducing valve conforming to ASSE 1003 or CSA B356 shall be installed on the domestic water branch main or riser at the connection to the water-service pipe, section P2903.3.1, I.R.C.
Pressure regulators required if over 80 psi (City standard).
